Computational resources
The UF Genetics Institute operates an HP DL585 Proliant Server with 64 Gigabytes of RAM and 2 dual core Opteron processors, running the RedHat Enterprise Linux OS. The machine has ample room to expand storage and memory and could easily integrate with a second server. The machine is hosted in a physically secure, temperature-controlled facility at the Health Sciences (HSC) machine room. HSC also provides nightly backups (stored in an off-campus location) and OS maintenance.
The server is available to all members of UFGI. If you are affiliated with UFGI and would like an account on this machine, please send a request by email to ufgi-stats-l at lists.ufl.edu.
Security Resources
The HSC SPICE program provides support and guidelines to ensure a secure and reliable computing environment. Please familiarize yourself with the guidelines for faculty/researchers, for students/residents, or for staff. If you have any concerns about computing security please contact the Information Security Administrator (ISA) or Information Security Manager (ISM) for your unit. The list of all ISAs and ISMs for the HSC units is available here. If you are in the Genetics Institute, your ISA is Alberto Riva and your ISM is Carlos Campos.
To report a security incident, contact the Information Security Incident Response Team by email at HSCIRT@health.ufl.edu or call (352) 273 – SIRT (7478).
